Thanks for helping out the dogs and cats and other deserving members of the community. We all owe a lot to Dr. Joe Cortese, who we lost in 2008. So leaders in the Capistrano Animal Rescue Effort and the San Juan Capistrano Rotary Club decided to dedicate the Annual Poker Run to a fellow we knew as “Dr. Fleas,” a founding member in CARE and active Rotarian.

Motorcycle Poker Run

It works like this. We shine up the machines and go have fun while helping CARE pay for much needed medications, microchips, spay/neuter, and emergency surgeries and the Rotary fund their projects. It's easy, especially with this online registration. We start at Orange County Harley-Davidson in the Irvine Spectrum, and make several stops before arriving in San Juan Capistrano Community Center/Sports Park. Not only do we get to show our hands for cash prizes, we get free entrance into the 8th Annual CARe SHOW. This fun event has shaped up to be one of the best mid sized car shows in Orange County. Come howl with the live bands, enjoy lunch and sniff around the goodie tables. The folks at Orange County Harley-Davidson and our other sponsors are a good bunch of folks for helping out, so bring a friend too. You can use the "Share This Event" link at the top of this page and bring the whole pack and make a fun day of it. You can have your well-behaved four legged friend bring their leash and join you at the CARe SHOW.

Capistrano Animal Rescue Effort
Founded in 2000, Capistrano Animal Rescue Effort helps the Homeless and Abandoned Cats and Dogs of San Juan Capistrano. By utilizing foster driven pet rescue, CARE's volunteer organization leverages the gifts of Supporters, Members and Your Generous Event Donations.
Along the way through our eight years of service to the community, more than 1,200 cats and dogs have found homes. Nearly all where retrieved or diverted from going to the Orange County Animal Shelter.
Proceeds of CARE events help to underwrite the medications, microchips, spay/neuter services, emergency surgeries and other expenses incurred in fostering and adopting the hundreds of cats and dogs that become homeless in the city each year. CARE is a 501c3 non profit charity. For your tax records, our Tax ID#: 33-0923931 (non-profit 501C3).
